RPA – Robotic Process Automation, can sound complicated but fundamentally it can best be illustrated in a few examples

EXAMPLE 1 - EXTRACT INFORMATION FROM A WEB PAGE

This example uses the Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce site, finds some member details and places them into an Excel spreadsheet, then formats the data.

The UiPath software robot, could be configured to extract information from any website (e.g. HMRC, Amazon, Bloomberg, BBC, DHL) or Cloud (e.g. Salesforce, Oracle, Workday, ServiceNow) or internal application ERP, CRM, HCM, … etc.

EXAMPLE 2 - LOAD DATA INTO AN APPLICATION FROM EXCEL

This example uses an Excel spreadsheet of company data and creates the accounts into a cloud CRM called “SalesFresh”.

A UiPath software robot is able to get data from Excel and enter it into any application. The target application could be a Cloud service (e.g. Salesforce, Oracle, Workday, ServiceNow) or internal application ERP, CRM, HCM, … etc.

EXAMPLE 3 - MIGRATE DATA FROM ONE CLOUD CRM TO ANOTHER CLOUD CRM

This example has the UiPath software robot reading data from the “SalesFresh” CRM and entering it into “Hubspot” CRM.

Although the software robot is shown migrating data which is a great solution which a new application is being adopted, the robot could be configure to synchronise the data between the systems, or verify the consistency of the information. Verification can be particularly useful where internal data can be checked with external reference sources.
