HOW CAN A BUSINESS DO MORE WITH LESS?

More with less means increasing productivity.

Will better staff motivation work?

Hyping motivation works but only for the short term. It is not sustainable week and week.

Paying staff overtime to handle the additional workload is not good for staff life balances.

Bring in temporary / agency staff can work but is probably “More with More” – not really an answer.

WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO BUSINESS?

One option is Automation.

Automation can be applied where there are repetitive tasks – think of each execution of a business process.

Physical Robots deliver automation in factories and warehouses.

Software Robots deliver automation for office work.

Robots can work 24 x7 which is a lot of capacity. If you compare a Robot’s capacity to a worker who does 8 hours a day , Monday through Friday, the Robot provides 4.2 times the capacity! 

Don’t think 100% automation, think of automation helping staff do the routine enabling staff to concentrate on the “Exceptions”, the “Unusual”, etc.

In most situations, it is about finding the best of both robot activity and human activity so that they work in harmony.
