Technical Review

The differnece between a Technical Review and a Systems Audit is that the review is focussed on a particular topic(s) with a specific objective being determined at the commencement of the activity.

Although the specifics of the review need to be agreed in each case, in general the activity will:

  • Be working collaboratively with client staff who are responsible for the hardware, operating system, network and database
  • Liaising with client staff responsible for the Oracle ECM (Stellent) software and its configuration
  • Examine through discussion and review of material (e.g. Traces, Log files) at least two recent events where a failure has occurred and corrective action has been taken
  • Formulate possible scenarios that triggered the events considering calendar, time, cumulative usage, activity levels and other business cycles
  • Investigate the scenarios and attempt to “re-create” in a test environment
  • Identify potential amendments to configuration, software levels, etc. that will prevent the failure occurring
  • Implement any aspect of the changes in respect of the Oracle ECM (Stellent) software

The discovery nature of this assignment means that the effort required cannot be predicted. In order to provide some management of the effort it is proposed that at least two man days are allocated initially and that subsequent authorization is agreed for each set of three man days.(Charges will only be made for effort expended).

Although the above refers to Oracle ECM, the approach can also be used for Kofax implementations.
