Oracle ECM - Workflow

Oracle ECM’s web based workflow is configurable and adaptable to wide range of purposes and business uses. The workflow engine provides criteria based automatic routing of content items / documents based upon criteria such as document type, author and other metadata values.

By supporting parallel and serial workflow, the ability to kick-off additional processes or external applications, flexible user and work step definitions, and the ability to add conditions based upon real-time or user input, both simple and complex processs can be implemented.

To support generic functionality sub-workflows can be defined and called from other workflows. For example, standard processes can be used for multi-lingual authoring / translation activities which could involve external organisations.

Oracle’s workflow is one of the strongest offerings in the industry

The integrated workflow functionality provides for content approval routing, time based escalation, jump steps, email notification of assignment actions and calls to external applications. There is support for electronic signatures via re-authentication of users. This feature forces the user to re-authenticate as part of their activity in a workflow process (e.g. Approval). This event is tracked and audited by the Content Server from where it can be printed out on activity reports. Workflows can also integrate with existing electronic signature solutions.
